Rupert Friend was Wickham

Happen to glance at one of the 100 Most Beautiful photos, as per the Peoples We Don't Know Who Chooses magazine, and there upside down to me, was a slight familiar face,..."who's this? looks familiar" I inquired of Madam B there in the Ortho’s office.

"Oh, that's Wickham from Keira Knightley's Pride and Prejudice,” said Madam B.

"Mmm, no one will really get to know Wickham from that movie, will they?" Mused I. "Or anyone else, really."

"Nope." Madam B sighed, " That version is like 'There he is. He loves her. The end."

True, I thought. True.

My Spunk Note self thought:

The struggles of poor Mr. Darcy who deep down realizes there is a need for change in how society views things, might not be picked up by this audience nor would they understand his many levels of concerns.

His aunt has ideas that are Iron-Gate rusty and oatmeal-old-fashioned and certainly not fitted for the *real* attraction or chance of true love. Seeing that Auntie wants Darcy to marry a poor, sickly, relative (her daughter, oh, how convenient is that?)…

This idea may have given Mr. Darcy some clue that a change needs to be a comin', or his life is going to be changed in unhappy ways just to make sure his business stuff (family money) is all kept up nicely because the Aunt needs a dash of society in her tea cup, while Darcy was feeling he should find a way to stop being such a prudish snob and find a way to marry the handsome Lizzy, or even just talk politely to her would be a good plan right now….

But how? It’s hard for him. He was born with the Prudly/Snobly gene. Determined he was to break this curse though! Good Man, That Darcy!

But in mentioning Wickham, as we were, we didn't get to see what a plotter, schemer, back-stabber, dispenser of lost loyalty, even a dishonoring child molester (maybe they didn't call it that back then but...) he was, as the Young Mr. Wickham began throwing around his indiscretions early on, and Darcy realized that what he had once relied on as unquestioning loyalty was now something that could be swayed by a handsome face when he realized that Georgiana’s own governess, had, in fact, been swayed by this scallywag!. Wickham was his nemesis in more ways than one. And Wickham wanted Lizzy as did Mr. Darcy also have her charms firmly in his mind. Well, men... Time to belly up to the bar, men! Draw your swords!! or gloves? Or maybe Wickham should just run away ...
